Even when tradition calls for fruitcake or figgy pudding, you’re sure to wow your holiday guests by including lots of red in your festive foods. Red actually is a color to consume for good health, no matter what the season. Among various crimson colored fruits and veggies packed with nutrients and topping the healthy food lists, the cherry is a standout. The black sweet cherry, or “Bing cherry,” is very popular, but tart cherries are considered even more nutritious, namely the Montmorency variety, which accounts for the majority of tart cherries produced in the U.S. Read full story in DeSoto Magazine, pp. 32-35.
